For centuries Åre, the alpine heart of Scandinavia, has been attracting visitors from all corners of the world. Åres unique atmosphere is as hard to define as it is widely known. That, in combination with outstanding alpine facilities, is why Åre has been entrusted with two World Ski Championships before — in 1954 and again in 2007. Åre and Jämtland will stand ready to organise the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships again from 5th-17th February 2019. In 2019 the world will turn its eyes to Åre, as the best ski racers on the planet come here to compete.
#The volunteer registration closes on December 31st# Our hearts beat for skiing and for sport in general. And we understand the importance of good and committed volunteers as part of our organisation. In our bid for the 2019 event, we acknowledged that what we did in 2007 was good, but that this time we will do it even better, we will go from Good to Great. But we can only achieve this if we have good people joining us on this journey. What really leaves an impression on spectators, athletes and media on site is the attitude and friendliness of the people who are working to make the event to a special experience. We find that an experienced organisation and a network of qualified staff and volunteers is what will help us stand apart and that is why the annual FIS Alpine Ski World Cup events play a key role in training our team. We will need many engaged and competent volunteers for Åre 2019. We are planning with 1600 persons, and most of them will be required on the hill, so we will be searching for many good skiers! We will begin recruitment based on our existing database of volunteers who have helped out with the Alpine Ski World Cup in Åre, so make sure you are included and register today!
