IRONMAN 70.3 Pula Istria, Croatia Sep 17, 2017 Originally from: http://eu.ironman.com/triathlon/events/emea/ironman-70.3/pula/volunteer.aspx#ixzz4oafc8jTs Where IRONMAN meets the beauty of Istria! Pula is situated on the most beautiful Adriatic coast side and on the very south of the Istrian peninsula in a well protected bay, known by its Latin name Pietas Iulia. It is a city with numerous remains from ancient times, where nearly every stone has a story to tell. It is perfectly logical since the early beginnings of Pula date back three millennia. Legend says that Colchis seafarers in search of the Golden Fleece established Pula some 3000 years ago. After swimming in a protected coastal bay, awarded with the blue flag – recognition for very clean sea – a very fast one loop bike course will follow. It passes through several small picturesque villages, old cypresses avenues and inland vineyards and makes its way back to the marina of Pula, where the relatively flat running course will lead through the over 3000 years old town of Pula. It passes many attractions such as the Augustus temple, the triumphal arc and the unique finish line in the amphitheatre – a first in all of IRONMAN. The edition in 2017 of IRONMAN 70.3 Pula Croatia offers 50 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 Wolrd Championship in South Africa, Nelson Mandela Bay.
DEAR VOLUNTEER! In order to make our event unforgettable for athletes, spectators, media representatives and VIPs from all over the world, hundreds of volunteers are needed for the events. There are many ways in which you can be part of this great experience. Whether you want to work at an aid station or at the finish line – we look forward having you in our Team! Volunteers are needed throughout the race week, not just on race day, to support the event build up, registration, the athlete functions and a wide variety of support on race day.
Our Volunteer Coordinator will then work with you nearer to the event to find the best area for you to help with: • Swim Course • Transition Area with bike check-in • Bike/Run Aid Station • Finish Line • Registration • Media Team • AskMe Team • Biker/Shuttle Service
If you want to become a member of the great IRONMAN family, please send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or to email@example.com and we will keep you up to date with information on the event. firstname.lastname@example.org
Swim Already for the first discipline, the approx. 1.000 – 2.000 starters need your helping hands. During the start and in the water the volunteers help to find the right way. When exiting the water after a long hard swim, a helping hand is welcome by every athlete.
Transition area In the transition area, you support the athletes in changing as fast as possible from one discipline to the next. You are responsible for their full equipment, from the wetsuit to the bikes.
Bike/ Run Aid Station Provide the athletes with the energy they need – with drinks, snacks and cheering! On the bike course you provide energy bars and filled drinking bottles. Fresh fruits, drinks, energy gels and a big cheer give the athletes enough energy on the running course.
Finish Line The Finish line is split up into several teams:
Catcher In the Catcher Team, you give the athletes a warm welcome at the Finish Line. Some of them have given everything to reach the finish line and need now to be guided or even carried to massage and the medical team. The emotions are so strong because the athletes have reached their dream and become an IRONMAN. Become part of these sensational emotions.
Finisher Shirts / Medals You are one of the first congratulators after this hard day! Feel the emotions and the joy by handing over the finisher shirts and the medals as recognition for their extraordinary achievement on that day.
Massage As part of the massage team, you help the athletes to recover after this long hard day. Your experienced hands help to relief the pain of the last 113 km. Massage Services are also offered on the days before the race.
Medical Team The Medical Team provides the medical support the athletes need during and after the race. You will work together with the Croatian Red Cross and your support will be needed on the race course as well as mainly in the finish area. We are looking for doctors and specialized personal.
Registration The registration is the first point of contact for every athlete. In the registration, we need your support in the days before the race (Thursday to Saturday), but also on Monday after the race for next year’s registration.
Media Team In the Media Team you are responsible for the accreditation of international journalists, their support in the days before and during the race as well as the communication within the organizational team.
The Media Team is made up of "Spotters" (provide information over the race), "speakerinfo" (give information to the speaker) and "Media Center" (accreditation and support of journalists).
Language skills are an advantage but not absolutely required.
AskMe- Team Here athletes and visitors ask you all about the IRONMAN race, area and many more things. As a part of the AskMe- Team language skills are a big benefit!
Biker/Shuttle Service On raceday biker and Car Shuttle Service carry photographers and cameramen to the hot spots of the race course or they are sitting right behind you and take shoots of the race. Bikers also carry the Race Marshals. There we need many Volunteers.
