IRONMAN European Championship Frankfurt, Germany Jul 8, 2018 The home of the Mainova IRONMAN European Championship, this city breathes history and culture at every turn. The Mainova IRONMAN European Championship course in Frankfurt is one of the most spectator-dense bike courses on the IRONMAN race circuit. It also boasts one of the most historical finish lines in the sport, ending in the heart of the old city. Visitors to the area can enjoy visting historical places such as the Römer, Paulskirche (Church), Frankfurt Zoological Garden, Goethe Museum, the old Opera House, several museums, and Alt Sachsenhausen. Athletes begin their day with a 3.8 km swim course in the quiet waters of the Langener Waldsee. The two-loop course has a short run between the laps. The water temperature is usually between 22°C and 24°C. The two-loop bike course guides athletes through the middle of Frankfurt, and into surrounding small villages. The course, which is closed to traffic, is hilly and challenging, mixed with some flat sections. Thousands of spectators come out to cheer for the athletes over the 180 km bike course. The 42 km flat run course consists of four fast laps, which allow athlete to reach their best marathon times. The run course is lined with thousands of spectators who gather along the promenande next to the river. Just a few days before the best triathletes in the world fight for the Mainova IRONMAN European Championship some more great events occur. On Thursday the stage on Mainkai belongs to the IRONKIDS. Kids and teens from Frankfurt and all over the world come together and collect money for a good cause by running laps in the Mainkai-Arena. On Thursday night, the NightRun, presented by Helaba, is a 5k relay run for amateur athletes. Volunteering opportunities

We are thankful for every single volunteer, therefore we can ensure you that you will be assigned to one of the volunteer activities. Moreover, we do our best to allocate based on preferred volunteer activities. In case we cannot fulfill your wishes, we will contact you to find the best possible solution. Are special skills required? Volunteers, who have signed up as team leader or volunteer coordinator will be invited to a short interview just to get to know each other and to explain all tasks. All other volunteer activities do not require any special skills besides of being open minded and enthusiastic about the race weekend. Will there be a volunteer meeting? 2 weeks in advance there will be a volunteer meeting of the Mainova IRONMAN European Championship Frankfurt for all volunteers introducing the different activities. When will I receive detailed information about my volunteer schedule? All information regarding your volunteer activity will be send to your email-address three weeks prior the event. This e-mail will contain your volunteer activity, working shift and working place. Additionally, a monthly newsletter will be send to all volunteers informing them about current topics.

Volunteer package

All volunteers will receive a volunteer shirt, cap and volunteer bag, as well as a small surprise. Moreover, you will get a lunch package including water, fruits and sandwich.
